DEAR FELLOW TROJANS:
In January 2010 the TFAC Board of Directors met and unanimously voted in the new Officers for this year. I was moved into the position of President. Mike MacGillivray remained as President-elect as Andy Eddy continues as Vice-President. Dean Lingenfelter has moved into the position of Vice President/Treasurer. Finally to complete the list of those who will serve as this year’s TFAC officers is Dennis David who steps into the role of Secretary.
A big THANK YOU belongs to 2009 President Tim Lavin. Tim not only guided our club during the past year as President, but he also chaired our 2009 golf tournament which provided the funds that support TFAC operations throughout the year.
We also need to express a THANK YOU to Mark Spino for his leadership and management of our first class TFAC Pre-Game tailgate parties which actually made a profit this past year. With the Cardinal and Gold striped tent that covered almost our entire area, plasma screen televisions, open bar, and great food we all enjoyed good times together proving the saying, “It’s great to be a Trojan!”
I don’t want to forget to say thanks to Clint Hamtpon for his leadership in making Salute to Troy a great success for both TFAC and the teams honored; and also Dennis David for handling TFAC’s Homecoming Corner where all enjoyed a good drink and memories, and Kevin McPartland for hosting and managing a great Fall Banquet.
With a new year we get to contemplate our past success and plan for our future success. I would like to set forth goals for this next year that I believe are important for the continued success, growth, stability and of enjoyment our club.
The number ONE PRIORITY is our biggest event of the year, our TFAC Golf Classic at Industry Hills. Tim Lavin has agreed to chair this again and the date is set, May 21, 2010. Go to the Golf Page of our web site for all the details. We need help from every member. Please volunteer to help Tim, sign up to play, get other players to come and play, and help Mark Spino by donating and soliciting gifts for the Silent Auction which is the big money maker for our club. This is the money that finances our club.
Just as important is the completion of the remake of our website which Kevin McPartland is working on. Our desire is to be able to take credit cards for payments and donations, register and pay for different events (i.e. annual golf tournament, tailgate events, etc.), an email blast program to send newsletters and notices, a players registration page, a secure part of the site that only members can access with a login which would include a forum, a directory, and miscellaneous stuff such as game tickets postings.
The website make over will help with the next goal of TFAC which is to have an accurate member contact data list. Names, addresses, phone numbers, employment, and email addresses will allow us to communicate with our members efficiently and effectively about TFAC events, news and needs.
Next we need to recruit new board members to insure our continued growth and it is especially important to focus on the younger alumni. As more people become involved with the club from different years and serve on the board our Club will prosper and grow. We will have new ideas and leadership, more members to help achieve the goals we set, and bottom line more fun and enjoyment for members and those who serve.
Last of all with the resignation of Pete Carroll, we will focus on assisting new head coach Lane Kiffin in his new position and work to build a strong lasting relationship with him and his program.
FIGHT ON!
